Welcome

My pottery journey began in that magical time between high school and college when I was a counselor at a summer arts camp in Griggstown, New Jersey. In my junior year of college at the University of Colorado I signed up for some ceramics courses and ended up spending way too much time in the CU ceramics studio. And it’s been a passion ever since.

It’s difficult to say why I love making pottery. There are so many things about making pottery that I enjoy and find fascinating. For me, the act of making things is enormously satisfying and never gets old, but it’s also that there are always new forms and challenges to learn.

Functional Pottery

There’s something truly wonderful about making pottery on the potter’s wheel, aka throwing. It’s not just about crafting work that I hope people will enjoy using. It’s the amazing process of taking a lump of mud and turning it into a beautiful object.

Raku Pottery

Raku is my firing process of choice for decorative pottery. Raku firing has a life of it’s own. It can be unpredictable and random, but amazingly beautiful with stunning details and finishes. Plus it’s fun to do.

Teaching

For me, teaching pottery is a great way to share my passion with others. It’s very rewarding to see the skills students develop during the course of a single class or a 12-week session or multiple sessions.

Many people love working with their hands. I get so much satisfaction from seeing the pride and joy on students’ faces when they conquer a challenge or they are really excited about a piece fresh out of the kiln. I look forward to every class.
